TYPOLOGY — Mixed-Use / Placemaking Strategy

Completion — 2018–2020

Location — Pittsburgh, PA
Located in a transitioning tech corridor of Pittsburgh, this project aimed to reposition a struggling real estate asset into a vibrant, mixed-use district. With Google secured as an anchor tenant and UPMC being pursued as a second, Walnut Capital engaged the team to develop a public realm and retail strategy that would unify the identity of the development and enhance its desirability as a place to live, work, and play.

We established comprehensive ground floor retail guidelines to create continuity across the district and ensure long-term retail viability. A new public park was also introduced to anchor the site with a meaningful civic space, designed to support both neighborhood residents and the growing tech workforce.

The revitalized vision for the site integrated placemaking principles with architectural cohesion, transforming the area into a destination that now supports innovation, social life, and community engagement.

Partners — Walnut Capital, Streetsense
