Located in the heart of the Federal Hill neighborhood, Cross Street Market is one of Baltimore’s most iconic public markets. In response to a City-issued RFP to redevelop the historic market, Caves Valley Partners was awarded development rights and brought on BCT Design Group to reimagine the aging structure for a new era.
The design honored the legacy of the market while introducing a forward-thinking vision rooted in economic feasibility and community relevance. With a tightly constrained budget, the project focused on minimal yet impactful architectural interventions—preserving the spirit of the original space while creating a more open, vibrant, and accessible environment for vendors and patrons.
The reimagined market played a key role in catalyzing further reinvestment in the neighborhood. It now serves as a thriving community anchor, balancing historic preservation with a modern marketplace experience.
